Should the Government Enact a Statute to Curb Team Mafisi?
Marriage falls apart especially when one is being unfaithful to the other, trust issues arise and to the extreme most likely triggers couples to separate or file for divorce. There are still those who believe in the sanctity of marriage while others no longer conform to the norms of the society concerning it.
What happened in S. Africa left the world at shock especially for those who follow and study human relations and family development. S. Korea formally legalized adultery just recently. Being one of the few countries against it, for 62 years the law has sent many behind bars but finally it has given up, this brought different reactions from the public and even angered some social conservatives who believe that ‘Adultery’ is a crime which destroys traditional family values.
People may take different sides and views about the sad issue but we can’t deny the fact that this is happening in reality. I tend to think that Kenya should write the statute, after the recent rise of “white parties”: wouldn’t it be a historical quirk that simply gathers legislative dust, a thing that bothers my mind. The precondition of human dignity and right to pursue happiness is for each individual to have their rights to choose their fate, And the rights to choose their fate includes rights to be engaged in sex and choosing the partner of choice. A conflict of basic human rights, freedom of association and expression.
Here’s a team mafisi story that shocked the nations a few months ago.
A woman meets with her lover, who is also her husband’s best friend. They make love for hours. Afterwards, as they lie in bed, the phone rings. Since it’s the woman’s house, she picks up the receiver. Team mafisi listens, only hearing her side of the conversation:
“Hello? Oh, hi… I’m so glad that you called… Really? That’s wonderful… Well, I’m happy to hear you’re having such a great time… Oh, that sounds terrific… Love you, too. OK. Bye-bye.”
She hangs up the telephone and her mafisi asks, “Who was that?”
“Oh,” she replies, “That was my husband telling me about the wonderful time he’s having on his fishing trip with you.”
Women are active socially, emotionally and economically, and women no longer apply as economically weaker gender. They have the choice and feelings too. Am not denying that but apparently, what goes around comes around, they say and each had the taste of ‘karma’ along the way.
My opinion is simple and I leave it for your conclusion, adultery and fornication go beyond a person’s rights and intrudes on other people and the community, considering that the relationship between husband and wife is the fundamental element of a family, the country and the society should legally protect and maintain It.
